Week of August 3rd Wrap Up and Sunday Sneak Peek

Hey there friends! How was your weekend? Mine was awesome. The weather was amazing, knocked out a bunch of little projects and even took a Sunday drive. Yup, just like an old man, I took a Sunday drive!

Thank you again for all of you who voted for my project in the RYOBI Dog Days of Summer Contest. The good news is you helped me get more than 170 votes! The not-so-good news is I didn’t win. It wasn’t for a lack of votes, because from what I could tell, I had a major lead over the other projects. After reading the fine print, it appears RYOBI has the final decision on the winners. I guess my Dog Poop Bag Dispenser was too crappy for their contest 😉

Before I tell you about my Sunday drive, here’s a pic of an heirloom tomato I grew in the garden. It weighed about a pound and half!

Here’s a little fact you probably didn’t know about me… I LOVE tiny houses! And tiny cars. And my tiny workshop (even though I wish I had another 100 square feet). Basically anything tiny, if it’s small, chances are I’m going to like it. A few years ago I read an article about a tiny used bookstore (that is connected to a book barn) in South Kortright, NY. I’ve always wanted to see it in person. Well, today was the day. I finished up my chores early and headed out for a Sunday drive. I snapped some pics, but the tiny bookstore and book barn appeared to be closed. I would have enjoyed going inside the tiny building, but I was happy just getting some pics. What trip is complete without a meal, right? Next I drove to Cave Mountain Brewing in Windham, NY for an Oatmeal Stout and a pulled pork sandwich. The perfect ending to the perfect day.

I spent about three hours in the shop this weekend. It felt good to make some sawdust! This is just a tease, because I don’t have any pics of the project I was working on this weekend. Or least any pics I’m willing to share yet 🙂 The real Sunday Sneak Peek is a pic of my Basement Window Cabinet. I’ll be sharing plans for it this week. Here’s a pic…

Have a good week and stay tuned for the Basement Window Cabinet plans!
