An Evening of “Blogkeeping”

September 9, 2015 by Scott - Saws on Skates

Hey there “Skatemates”! How is you’re week going? I’m taking advantage of a thunderstorm and doing a little blog housekeeping or should I say “blogkeeping”.

I’ve made a few changes to the blog. Actually, rather than calling them changes, lets call them improvements. Improvement has a more positive connotation and I feel the changes I made improved the site!

First, I removed the “Home” page, so now the “About” page is the homepage.  Get it?! I’m doing my best to follow the blog “rules” and one thing that was suggested to me was to have a static homepage, so search engines can index the site and hopefully send more folks here.

The “Repurposed” project tab now appears under the “Free DIY Plans” tab. The repurposed projects are plans, so it made the most sense to include everything under one tab.

I believe this is the oldest pic I have of the house

A new tab was added called “House Restoration” and was inspired by my most recent post about my bathroom window restoration. There are three sub tabs, About the House, Restoration Blog and Restoration Gallery which includes some cool, vintage pics of the house. I’ll eventually add a tab for “Restoration Plans” for projects like the window frame.

I have to tell you, and this may seem really strange, but for me this blog feels like a living thing. Almost like a child. It doesn’t always go the way I expected, it’s constantly changing, improving, growing, evolving and maturing just like a living creature. I never would have thought that when I started this adventure at the beginning of the year. Any other bloggers feel this way? Hope you enjoy watching it mature as much as I do!

I hope to share a new project with you soon, but the bathroom window restoration has consumed much of the time I would have normally dedicated to building a new project to share with you. If nothing else I’ll have an update about the window soon.

Enjoy the rest of your week!
