Welcome New Followers!

My pup Coco and I were just reviewing my e-mail. Well that’s not true, Coco is snoozing. She went to watch a friend run a 5k this morning and it wiped her out 🙂 Anyway, there are so many notifications of new blog followers in my e-mail and I want to extend a heartfelt WELCOME to all of you! I’m so glad you’re here. It appears that many of you are here because of Hometalk and my Coffee Container Tiki Statue post. I also want to thank Hometalk for sharing my project and bringing you here. Thank you so much for all of your positive comments and feedback. I’ll be posting more new projects soon. I hope you’ll find more that you like and want to make.

One of the new followers was actually brought to my blog, not because of Hometalk or because my projects, but because of a friend and an airplane trip. My friend Jamie was on plane and just happened to be sitting next to a successful blogger. They struck up a conversation and ended up talking about my blog and projects.

Jamie got her contact info and passed it along to me. She visited my blog and provided me with some great suggestions. I’ve already incorporated some of the improvements and will be chipping away at the others very soon. One of the things she mentioned is the blog tagline is “Big impact projects in a small space”, but she pointed out that I have no posts about working in a small shop. So, I’ll be working to correct that! By the way, I’m always open to suggestions. Have an improvement for the blog or project idea? Please let me know and I’ll do my best to incorporate it. You can post a comment or send me an e-mail at [email protected].

Speaking of projects, I didn’t accomplish many in the shop this weekend. The weather was too a beautiful to be in the shop! I did fix a neighbor’s cabinet door, but the rest of the projects were focused on the outdoors. It’s a little off topic, but I laid out a new garden bed. How do you layout a new garden bed? I layout the bed with an old hose and then use spray paint to outline the path on the grass. Then I cut along the spray paint line with a half moon edger and till the soil. Today I added some peat (clay soil here), edged and planted some skyscraper sunflower seeds that I saved. Like that crisp edge? It’s courtesy of Funky Junk’s How To Edge Flower Beds Like a Pro tutorial.

I also roughed out the entryway to my Tiki Hut. Below is a sneak peak of the entryway and the hut. I’m going for suspended plank bridge look for the entryway! I have just a few more finishing touches and then I’ll post the full Tiki Hut tutorial. See the lime green Adirondack chair peeking in the background? I love the design of this chair! The plan can be found on anawhite.com here.

Tomorrow it’s supposed to rain, so I’ll be back in the shop. My next project is a bit of secret right now, but I can tell you it involves Cutting Edge Stencils. Have you ever checked out their HUGE assortment of stencils? Most of the stencils are for larger projects like walls, but staying true to the blog tagline, my project will provide big impact in a small space!

Thank you again to all the new followers. I’m so glad you’re here! Stay tuned… a new project will be posted soon 🙂
