About Your Instructor

Hey there, I’m Scott, the DIYer here at Saws on Skates®. For more than ten years, I have been using SketchUp to design woodworking projects. In 2015, I launched Saws on Skates®. A site that specializes in space-saving workshop ideas, problem-solving tool tips, and clever building plans for DIYers with limited workspace who want to increase their DIY knowledge, improve their skills, and make their small workshop a more enjoyable place to build.

Testimonials

Beyond reading and sending emails and occasionally ordering woodworking supplies, I am pretty much computer illiterate. In fact, I still use the old Army way with my typing – the two fingers method. After taking this one-hour course, I feel confident that I (with a little practice) use this program. The course is well done and easy to follow. I am glad that I took it!”
Christian B.

“Great class that was very effective for me. The interaction while doing an actual simple drawing was the perfect approach. I have watched a couple of YouTube videos that, for me, were OK but nothing like the one on one with Scott – I highly recommend this introductory class and hope he offers follow-up classes.”
Bill C.

“Scott did a great job presenting the information. It was a class designed to teach the basics of SketchUp, which I understood going in. He was prepared and organized. He was able to answer any questions that I had.”
Bill N.

“Thoroughly enjoyed the class. Scott presented the material very well. Liked the structure of the class, Scott demonstrates several steps and then lets the student perform the same steps before moving on. The hour moved extremely fast.”
Gregg C.

“Intro to Sketch up was super fun and interactive! I enjoyed it so much, I was disappointed when it was over. Scott is a great teacher, and easy to understand. He’s very patient and answers all questions posed during the course. Even with my limited computer skills the class was easy to enter and navigate. I love the recorded session so I can go back and rewatch things for a refresher. I hope in the future, Scott will offer more classes with more drawings to help further my sketch up skills. Highly recommend checking out this class!”
Apryl I.

“I’ve wanted to learn how to use SketchUp for a long time, but never quite made the time to look up tutorials and such online. I’m sure I could have spent several hours online watching pre-recorded tutorials and still learned the basics of SketchUp, but the 1 hour interactive class with Scott was much more efficient and effective. He explained and demo’d the features in a way that was easy to understand and watched and make corrections as I did the same tasks in real time. It was nice being able to ask questions along the way, and learn alternate ways of doing things. After just the 1 hour session with Scott, I decided to put what I’d learned to use and design a table on my own and I managed to do it in ~15 minutes without referring to notes. So overall, I’d say the class was effective and I highly recommend it for someone looking to quickly grasp the basics of SketchUp.”
Annette A.

“The class was just what I needed. I had reviewed video tutorials in the past, but I didn’t grasp the information nearly as well as I did with Scott’s one-on-one class. His use of Zoom and sharing screens was very helpful. Having me repeat his steps was a great idea that helped make the information sink-in.”
Bill K.

“100% recommend this class! Whether you’re brand new to SketchUp or have tried it before, you will walk away with new knowledge. The pace of the class is tailored to the student. Scott does a great job at balancing the class time limit with covering planned agenda and still answering off-subject questions. Great value for the one-on-one time. Can’t wait for the next set of SketchUp classes from Scott!”
Tammy S.

“I have been trying to learn SketchUp for over a year and I have not had very much success. I have bought several different training programs and tried a couple of free ones. I am not saying they were bad, they just didn’t click with me.

When I saw Scott’s eMail about one on one SketchUp training at a very affordable price, I decided to give his class a try because I had been following his Saw on Skates blog for quite a while and found his explanations of how to do things easy to follow.

Taking his one on one training is one of the best things I have done in quite a while. It was easy to understand, follow and duplicate what he teaches. If you are having trouble understanding SketchUp like I was, this is a must-take course to get you started on your way to being a SketchUp pro.”
