Three Sneak Peeks and a Few Updates

I am exhausted! The weather here was amazing this weekend and I spent nearly the entire weekend working outside. I’m enjoying the last bit of the weekend relaxing in my tiki hut. Yup, I’m typing this with a cozy little fire in the distance… and here comes the rain drops. Oh well, it looks like I may have to finish this up inside. But I can’t complain, like I said, it was a beautiful weekend.

Let’s get right to it. Here’s the first sneak peek… I’ve nearly finished the landscaping for the tiki hut! The pond is in and it was SOOOOO easy to make! It’s made from a big black plastic bowl from Party City and solar water pump was found on Amazon. The tiki is really coming together. Just a few nit picky things I want to finish up and then I’ll be posting the tutorial.

While on the subject of the tiki, I noticed the caulk didn’t hold on my three tier tiki statue. I think I’ll try Liquid Nails next. I also noticed the bottom tiki collected water during our last storm, so drilling some drainage holes would be a good idea. I’ll add that tip to the tutorial.

Here’s the second sneak peek… it’s a pic of the project I designed exclusively for Cutting Edge Stencils. Any guesses as to what it is? Don’t study the photo too hard, because it’s going to change. As much as I like designing projects in SketchUp, it’s really hard to determine what the finished project will look like until it’s built. For me this project is too tall, so I will be shorten it before stenciling it. I can’t wait to show you the final project! Please check out Cutting Edge Stencils and don’t forget to post your guesses as to what I’m working on in the comments.

The third sneak peek was designed for an issue I have, but I’m willing to wager other dog owners have the same issue. Sure, it looks like a birdhouse, but birds won’t be using it 😉 It’s just in the design stage, but I hope to build it and share the plans with you soon. Any idea what it is?

That wraps up the sneak peaks. Hey, did you know Saws on Skates is on Pinterest? I just set up account this week. So far there are pins of all the Saws on Skates projects; Paint, stain and finish ideas; Shop tips, ideas and jigs; Workshop inspiration and Garden Inspiration. Check it out and please click follow when you get there! I’ll be creating more boards soon. What boards would you like to see me create?

Garden inspiration is one of the boards on Pinterest and that’s because gardens are one of my passions. This weekend I designed another sunflower bed. This one is next to my whimsical fence. This bed is filled with skyscraper sunflower seeds! I just added the curtains to the fence. What do you think? Yay or nay? I think I like the idea of curtain, but I feel they’re too long. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Did you see the new how to tutorial? It’s easy to build plans to make no miter cut picture frames. Miter cuts are tricky and I think miters are one of the reasons most people don’t attempt a project. This project is all straight cuts and it’s so easy a 10 year old could do it! Take a look and give it shot.

Hope you enjoyed the sneak peeks and hope you had a good weekend. Don’t forget to post your responses to the questions above in the comments. I’d love to hear from ya!
