When I’m not tinkering in my shop, I’m spending time with my senior rescue dog, working on home improvement projects, and volunteering with my local historical society.

Experience and Expertise
- Woodworking Enthusiast: I’ve spent over 30 years working with wood, from making furniture to tackling home improvement projects. It’s been a journey of trial and error and plenty of learning along the way.
- Founder and Author at Saws on Skates: As the author of Saws on Skates, I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned through detailed guides, project ideas, and inspiration for anyone looking to take on their own woodworking projects.

Education
- Shaker Furniture Making: My journey into traditional woodworking started with a class on making Shaker-style furniture. I learned a lot about fine joinery and how to craft pieces with precision and care.
- Furniture-Making Courses: I’ve taken several multi-week furniture-making courses at a local art school, where I learned from an instructor who studied fine woodworking at the College of the Redwoods. I developed skills like hand-cut dovetails, mortise and tenon joints, veneer making, and steam-bending wood.
- Timber Framing Workshop: One of the highlights of my learning was a week-long timber framing workshop, where I worked with others to build a frame for a small barn from raw logs. It was an incredible experience.
- SketchUp for Woodworkers: I took a two-day class on SketchUp to improve my design skills, which gave me the tools to start designing my own furniture plans.
