This looks like an ordinary outdoor coffee table, but reach under the table, pull out the four small side tables and you have quadrupled the space for beverages and burgers! The side tables can be positioned next to chairs, or anywhere you need them and then tuck neatly under the coffee table when the party is over. Talk about a multitasker!

Before I share the details about the Bellemeade Outdoor Coffee Table, I’m excited to share that this project was sponsored by Build Something and Kreg Jig! Build Something is Kreg’s DIY project plan site. In addition to partnering with them for the project, they also helped me out with the more than 300 pocket holes that I needed to drill for this project. The shiny new Kreg K5 Pocket Hole Jig they sent me made quick work of drilling all those pocket holes!

As I mentioned, there were a lot of pocket holes that needed to be drilled for this project. One of the many things I like about the Kreg K5 is the handy “workpiece stop”. Once setup, the workpiece stop allows you to insert your workpiece in the jig and drill pocket holes in the same location every time.

I installed the workpiece stop and tested the setup on a test piece. Once I was happy with the position I was able to drill pocket holes in the same location on every piece, every time. What a time saver! New to the Kreg Jig? Check out my 9 Pocket Hole Mistakes You Don’t Want to Make.

Now back to today’s project. My friend Linda’s birthday was approaching fast and I needed a gift. But not just any gift. I needed to top last year’s gift. Last year I designed and built an outdoor garden cabinet. A place for her to grow flowers without the neighborhood woodchuck nibbling the plants down to nubs.

The garden cabinet totally changed the look of her deck, but the space was missing something. She needed a piece of outdoor furniture where she could place drinks, snacks or maybe set a citronella candle. She needed an outdoor coffee table!

This wouldn’t be just any outdoor coffee table. Just like I did for the fliptop workbench, kitty litter cabinet and the outdoor side table, the outdoor coffee table would be an attractive design packed with loads of functionality. The design would start with a unique top.

Everyone could use more space for drinks and snacks when entertaining friends and family, right? But who has room to have a bunch of little tables scattered around their deck or patio? The functionality of the Bellemeade Outdoor Coffee Table comes in the form of four hidden side tables.

The side tables store neatly under the coffee table when not in use which keeps your outdoor space looking neat and tidy.

When needed, the side tables can be pulled out and placed next to chairs where guests can have their drinks and snacks easily at hand.

  1. Great Plan! Near the end of the page, there’s what looks like a SketchUp drawing; any link to the model you could share?

  2. I actually found this website from the Build Something page, under the “extras” tab. And I was referring to the SketchUp model, as opposed to the plans and instructions themselves which, as you said, are on Build Something.

    1. Hi Michelle – Thank you for stopping by. The coffee table was painted with a Behr color called “Intellectual”.
