Hey there friends! Today I’m continuing with my series on setting up a small workshop. We started a few weeks ago when we looked at workbench ideas for a small workshop. This week we’ll look at 6 mobile space-saving miter saw stand plans, plus a bonus stationary stand. Each would be perfect for a small workshop. Looking for more small workshop setup ideas? Then check out how to make your tools mobile and maximize workshop space.

Why would you want a dedicated miter stand? Because you know you’re guilty of this… you put your miter saw on your workbench to make some cuts, then move the miter saw to the floor, so you can assemble your project. Then you realize you cut one of the pieces too short (you should have done a test piece first!), but your project is clamped on your workbench, so now you’re bent over cutting on the floor. Yup, we’ve all done it.
After you have a workbench, I would say a dedicated miter saw stand would be the next upgrade for your shop. No matter if you have a dedicated workshop or a space you can only use temporarily for DIY projects, I think one of these space-saving, easy to make DIY miter saw stands would be a great addition to your shop. With the exception of one, they are all mobile, making it convenient to wheel out when you need it and store it when you don’t.

This DIY Portable Miter Saw Station is unique because of the side wings that fold like a pocket knife. The folding design is easy to set up when you’re ready to work and fold down when you’re done. Plus, it’s mobile, so it can be moved from the workshop to the backyard, or to a buddy’s house to help with a project. Plus, it has a stop for repetitive cuts.
